Integrate your custom domain with Durable
If you have an existing domain outside of Durable (For example, Godaddy, Namecheap, etc.), please follow the steps below to connect your domain.
Please note that to connect an existing domain to your website, the website needs to be on a paid plan.
Before you begin
Before you begin the connection process, you will need the following information:
Your login information for your third-party domain provider account (Eg, Godaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace, etc.)
Durable's IP Address for your DNS 'A' Record: Either
162.159.140.42
or172.66.0.42
(Please do not add both)Durable's 'CNAME' for your DNS 'CNAME' Record: websites.durablesites.com
Step 1: Navigate to the settings tab
Go to Website > Domains
Click the option to "Use a domain I own."
Step 2: Add your domain
The system will show a popup window like the one below. Please type the domain you own in the box and click "Next."
Please do not includewww
at the beginning of the domain, as this will prevent the domain from connecting.
Click "Configure manually." Alternatively, you can click "Get help from a person" to book a support session with the Support team.
Please open another tab on your browser and sign into your domain provider account. (See list of common Domain hosts User guides at the bottom of this guide)
Please navigate to the DNS settings for the domain from the domain provider's account to which you would like to connect.
It will provide additional instructions on the domain connection. Please remove the DNS records listed under the "Delete the following DNS records" on your domain provider's DNS settings if there are any.
Please add the record listed under step 4. You can copy by clicking each value.
Paste all of the DNS records into your domain provider's DNS settings and save the change.
Example: (Here, I am using a Godaddy account as an example)
Come back to Durable's dashboard and click "Connect."
When you see this screen, the manual connection is completed.
Please note that a manual connection may take up to 48 hours to propagate. If you don't see your domain properly connected to your website, please check your domain status with the DNS checker. Please follow this page for guidance.
